Skin and hair care advice

In this section, we look at some of the most common skin conditions and concerns and suggest products to help guide you back to beautiful balanced skin and a radiant complexion.

Dry and/or Dehydrated Skin

Dry skin may appear dull and flaky and sometimes feels itchy or uncomfortable. Dry skin lacks oil (sebum) and is more prone to premature ageing than oily skin requiring a gentle, effective skin care regime to replenish lost moisture and deeply nourish the skin.

Dehydrated skin may be caused by any number of factors including environmental conditions, working outdoors in dry or windy weather, air-conditioning, and overheated environments. A common cause is not drinking enough water. You may notice tight, uncomfortable skin and very dry lips. Dehydrated skin requires moisturising products that offer barrier protection against drying conditions.

We recommend the following products to help rehydrate and restore soft, supple skin:

Oily/combination skin

Oily and combination skin types are often characterised by large pores which can cause blackheads and acne and a build up of oil, especially around the forehead, nose and chin. You may develop blemishes and be frustrated by a constantly 'shiny' complexion.

We recommend the following product to help balance and regulate your skin type:

Ageing skin and Uneven Skin Tone

As skin ages it tends to become dryer and will slowly lose elasticity. As skin thins, wrinkles and fine lines appear and skin can become more sensitive. As skin ages it requires more gentle care with products that will strengthen and support the skin's natural process of renewal.

You may also find that your skin tone becomes uneven as you age. Dullness is visible and you may feel an unevenness to your skin's texture. Uneven pigmentation results from changes in the production of melanin in the skin. Some parts of the skin simply have more melanin than others. So when exposed to sunlight, the more dense areas of melanin become darker than the surrounding skin. Sometimes these darker patches are due to combination of sun exposure and hormone levels. The rise in hormones can be caused by pregnancy, the use of oral contraceptives, menopause or hormone replacement therapy.

To support a healthy, glowing complexion and to minimise the signs of premature ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone, we recommend the following products.

Sensitive skin

If you suffer from sensitive skin you are not alone. Up to 50% of women and 40% of men report having sensitive skin.

When skin is sensitive and irritated, its natural barrier becomes weakened, causing sensitivity problems to occur. Symptoms vary and can present as redness; dry, flaky skin; sensations of itching or stinging; hives; and eczema. They all have one thing in common - inflammation.

Many people with sensitive skin find it hard to pinpoint the cause of the problem. Some sensitive skin types may react only at certain times (such as a reaction to environmental or hormonal changes or to certain products). Others may find that they suddenly react to a product they have been using for some time.

To protect the weakened skin barrier of sensitive skin and help to moisturise skin to promote optimum skin heath we recommend the following products:
